Just saw this kid on CNN and he is an awesome example of what we need to see in the youth of today! After the Chicago Derrion Albert Tragedy, I thought it would be a good idea to highlight a positive story as the media of today doesn't do enough to show things like this. Thanks to CNN for reminding of how truly Gangster this kid is... Give us more of this please, mainstream news outlets.

T-Pain

If you aren't up on the latest in "beef".. here's the short story. T-Pain is djing in Las Vegas and talking shit on the mic about Jay. Jay responds with a fuck T-Pain, then T-Pain responds with some Age-ism referring to Jay's age. The result - this Track where T-Pain freestyles over Drake's Successful and gives a heartfelt apology to Jay as well as defends his "average" looking wife. I mean, I know a few rappers who dumped their wives/girlfriends once they got a little paper so this, to me, is a good look! Dudes stick by your bitches LOL.

Some people call it being soft, some people call it bitching up…I just gotta be, I just gotta be more careful….so that Nuvo got me poppin’ s–t, and even worse, the people around me ain’t knockin it…alright, so lets talk about the Jay shit. Some days I wish I never say shit, and Diddy said ain’t no excuse for what I did, but I felt like he was knocking the same shit that feeds my kids…and Jay one of the only n out here bringing it, so I didn’t think he would even entertain the shit. Cuz entertainment is see-thru but if you really feel like I’m dead, then me too. I ain’t tryin to write your rhymes but you coulda skipped one DJ and all you had to say is, “T-pain, we cool.” But by all means, don’t take this as a diss or hatin’, I just wanna explain my side of the situation, so if you knew how much respect that I have, you’d know I’m a real n when I say, “My bad.

(*the section about people hating on his “regular-looking” wife is somewhat heartwarming but also obtuse, because no, Pain is not the only one featuring video models of different skin tones, whether those castings are calculated or not.)

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery in Boondock Saints II 2

The long-awaited red-band trailer for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day has finally premiered, and IGN was kind enough to share their exclusive with the rest of us!

For all you Boondock Saints fans out there, I know we recently promised you that the trailer was going to arrive over a month ago, but hey, we too are slave to Hollywood’s wicked trickery (saints preserve us) ;-) .

However the trailer is here now, so enough talk - let’s give you what you came for, the red-band trailer for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day!

.

[THE FOLLOWING IS FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY]

I’m going to be honest: I came late to the party back when Boondock Saints starting to become the cult-phenomenon it is today. The original film was released in 1999, I think I saw it in 2002 and immediately my reaction was “This is what all the fuss has been about?” At first I thought it was an Irish-themed Tarantino knock-off, with one HELL of a weird performance from Willem DaFoe as a quasi-gay, self-hating police detective???

My brother (and pretty much everybody else I know) swears by Boondock Saints though, and I’ve pretty much been written off by friends and family as a fool for not liking it.

About this sequel: the trailer makes the film look like a much more polished version of Troy Duffy’s (director of Boondock Saints) vision. The returning stars (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) look like they haven’t lost a step (or the chemistry) after nearly a decade; the new additions to the cast (Clifton Collins Jr., Judd Nelson, Peter Fonda, Billy Connolly and Julie Benz) look like good ones; and I am so SO happy that DaFoe’s character won’t be back. I love DaFoe, but that character pretty much murdered the first film for me.

For you Boondock Saints fanatics out there: I expect some of you will like the money-polished version of one of your cult favorites, while others of you will inevitably say that Duffy and Co. “Sold out.” We’ll see who feels which way in the comments.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day hits theaters on October 30, 2009.

A lot of people don’t know this but Miike Snow is produced by the same guys who produced some of Britney Spear’s biggest hits! That right the guys who helped make Animal are the same guys who wrote and produced Toxic, Radar and Piece of Me. You have to love the power of not being famous, no one expects anything specific from you and you’re limitless in terms of how you can express yourself. Which brings me to a point I’ve wanted to make for quite some time.

A lot of social norms and silly concepts make people believe they have to act or behave a certain way which in turn creates all sorts limits in terms of expression. My view on that is f&$k that, my form is no form because life isn’t about formulas, it’s about flexibility and living in accordance to one’s unique disposition. For a person to follow a way of life that doesn’t truly suit their own needs would be nothing short of idiotic. That apply’s to everything, work, art, taste, sex, everything. I’m saying all this because I like how Bloodshy & Avant go about their business, whereas a lot of other producers and artists live in a box making solely what others expect of them without ever really expressing themselves.

That said, Miike Snow’s self-titled LP is does not fall in that category. I’ve heard people call their music emotional-pop but since when does talking about something real make you emotional? The insecurities never end with people. Animal, one of the albums most noteworthy tracks is not only an outstanding production but also has really great lyrics. Basically, the song is about coming to that cross roads when you realize that the things you may have valued before don’t really give you the satisfaction and fulfillment you expected. The answers you thought would solve all your problems only led to more questions and now you’ve come to realize that in the end your just, well, an animal. To me, that means that happyness and fulfillment are a lot simpler to achieve then the world makes you believe because it is all internal and has nothing to do with “Money, money, money, money,” or anything else external for that matter. ”I’m still, I’m still an animal” is just a metaphor for constantly maintaining that perspective.

As an over-ambitious 23 year old I went through the same thing so this song strikes a particular chord for me. Anyways, today felt like a good day for this song, it’s fall in the city and the air feels great, this post is already too long let me stop talking so you can continue listening, enjoy.

Super cool ambient French superstars AIR came back onto OIW’s stereo last week with a gem of a tune “So Light Is Her Footfall” ahead of their new record out next month, Love 2.

We loved Premiers Symptomes, and we adored the Playground Love track from the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. So in even better news, fellow French wunderkids Phoenix have also released a cover of that tune. Aw, nice stuff Frenchies! Here you go folks…

"More Than A Game" is a documentary which features an NBA superstar and shows how he rose to fame, while playing with his childhood friends. But it isn't like any old documentary that you would find on ESPN, it tells a deeper story that people of all different ages can relate to. It is a story of friendship, dedication, hard work, and above all, teamwork.

The story of Lebron James and his teammates -- Dru Joyce, Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee -- is one that mimics the "American Dream." Five young men from lower class backgrounds, growing up in Akron, Ohio, all being connected by their love of basketball. They join a local team together and must overcome numerous obstacles, both as a team and as individuals, whether it was dealing with internal problems, or problems at home. At times, the young men are brought down to the bottom, but had to find it within themselves to show courage to get back up and keep fighting and to accomplish greatness in the game of round ball, and leading their team to win many high school championships in the process.

The boys weren't alone on their journey. They had their coach, Dru Joyce Sr., to guide them along the way, and mentor them as a father figure as well. A pivotal point in the documentary comes when Coach Dru realizes how his dreams connect with those of his son and the team. When times get rough, Coach Dru becomes the glue that keeps the team together, making them even more united, and more family like.

The documentary is very successful at showing growth within the members of the team. As the film progresses, we get to feel how each member of the team overcomes their struggles and triumphs, becoming stronger in the process. Another strength of the film is its ability to portray the team as more than a just a highschool basketball squad, but as family. By the end of the documentary, you get a feel that the young men have a brother-like relationships beyond their friendships.

This documentary is recommended for not only people who enjoy basketball, but for those you want to be moved and inspired by a story that sends the message that no matter what the obstacle is that you face, you can overcome and be successful.
