I am really intrigued and confused by the culture of obsessing over celebrities. I don’t know if it is because I grew up in LA or because I am in some of the same social circles as some celebrities but I don’t really care what they are doing. To me they are just everyday people. I might be jaded because of my experiences but it really does nothing for me to track a persons every move just because they are famous. I am the minority on this one tho. Millions and millions of people across the world fill their days consuming bull shit facts about their favorite star.

Between TMZ, tabloids, paparazzi and blogs it is too much for me.

Mikes show is about the rise and fall of a super star. From nothing to absolute power to crash and burn. Being that this retrospective is coming from one of the biggest rock stars on the planet is of interest. Mike can really speak from real world experiences going from a no body to super star. Thru his art he was able to convey the pre and post stardom that his character lived through.

First, stars are nothing with out fans and media. Let’s just put that on the table, you and I are the culprits here. We are creating these stars. I think further than that a Super Star is a manifestation of mans never ending quest for power. In the cave man era it was simple. Carry a big stick, eat food, shelter and woman. If you were doing this you were a star. Now it is a little bit different. You need the boat, the watch, the maybach and the house. Not to mention to arm candy, girls and guys.

I believe that it is in our nature to never be satisfied. The lack of satisfaction has manifested into a culture of excessive. I want I want I want. More More More.

Two Friday’s ago, french artist ZEVS was arrested in Hong Kong for painting this Chanel Liquidated logo on the side of the Giorgio Armani building in Central, Hong Kong. On August 14th he was given a two weeks suspended jail sentence for this. The fact that he might actually have to go to jail starting tomorrow is absurd because this stuff is very dope. Having lived in Hong Kong myself, I do know that the police are definitely not worth messing with (side note: they drive really cool futuristic looking Honda VFR’s). Bringing back his original 2002 design, fashion designer Alexander McQueen will be revamping his Fall/Winter 2009 Collection with a new set of egg chairs, each customized in limited edition versions. Five different options will see a releases, including this “dogtooth” print, which has been featured in the aforementioned Fall/Winter lineup. Along with this upcoming set, a second release can be expected during the Christmas/Holiday season later in the year.
