Fred Lockett and myself gave the Brand New Rane 68SL mixer for a test run this evening and I have to say it was MAJORLY impressive. Although it was a little confusing at first, we got it to work with a combo of both CDJ's and 1200's. We found the routing of the signal paths easy to navigate and the Effects are on par with the Pioneer M800, as a matter of fact it looks a bit like the Pioneer, but it is a little brighter and a bit smaller and lighter. The cue/bank buttons are easy to use and when using the 2 laptop configuration, you can switch between laptops with the flip of a switch. For never using this mixer it really does allow 2 dj's to work together pretty well. I would imagine battle dj's may find the lack of an extra cross fader a bit frustrating, but for club performance, I can't imagine needing much more. Peep the video below and even though both Fred and myself don't enjoy working with CDJ's and this mixer is as brand new as it gets and you can see how much fun it is rocking with it. Switchovers are achieved by clicking the prompt just below your Modes and it is a very smooth transition. Overall, we gave it 4 thumbs up and will be rocking it together soon in a club near you as a dynamic Duo! Peep the vids, kids!
