Super-Fight Between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao Nearly Finalized

It looks like the boxing mega-fight between Filipino superstar Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is getting closer to becoming a reality.
Mayweather commented on a possible fight last month -- following Pac-Man's dominating win over Miguel Cotto -- saying that all Pacquiao had to do to get a shot was step up and say it. Well, Manny did, and talks have begun ... says reports.
According to the L.A. Times, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum flew to the Philippines on Tuesday (December 1) to discuss a possible meeting between the two boxers in the near future.
nA unidentified source told the paper that Mayweather has already agreed to some contractual details. However, further info was not revealed.
"I'm going over there to figure it out," Arum told The Times just before departing. "Everything."
Arum reportedly spent much of Tuesday resolving issues during negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who represents Mayweather, before taking off for the Philippines.
He is expected back on Monday (December 7).

With “Fela”, Broadway Enters A New Age
This Just in Via: Guest Of A Guest
Hope for Broadway? Other than "Bring In Da Noize" and "Stomp", I can't think of any other Broadway plays that gave a shat about the "Black" Experience, African or otherwise... anyway enjoy the article! More Photos After the Jump
While fellow “Fela” producers Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith might have been missing, Jay-Z walked the red carpet of his play with co-directors Bill T. Jones and Niegel Smith.-
Several celebrities came out to support the opening of the musical, including Jimmy Fallon, Roots drummer Questlove (who, incidentally, was one of the first celebrities to see “Fela” when it was just a small Off-Broadway show, and it was his blogs and praise of the show that made it a regular stop for New York celebs), Ben Stiller and director Spike Lee.
Fela hopefully will help usher in a new age, where American theatre, and, in particular Broadway, is not dominated by old white guys reproducing unoriginal intellectual property over and over again.
The play examines the story of Fela Anikulap Kuti, a Nigerian political activist and politician, who also happened to be a phenomenal musician, and is considered the pioneer of “Afrobeat” as well as the originator of “Funk”. As directed by legendary dancer/choreographer Bill T. Jones, “Fela” is a moving and inherently theatrical experience unlike anything being produced in commercial theatre today.

M-Eighty Will Attempt To Break Freestyle Record

M-Eighty with C-Rayz Walz and some other friends. Matt looking like his older bro in this pick!
This Just in from the homey M-80.... If ya don't know M, then you haven't been to ANY hip hop shows in Indy in the last 5 years! M-Eighty has worked hard to put nap on the map and he is now taking it to the next level! Get em, M!
Seeking to raise $30,000.00 to build the first ever secondary school within Africa's Bebor, Nigeria, Wu-Tang affiliate and national recording artist M-Eighty has partnered with the International Studies Program at Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) and the Timmy Foundation break the world record for freestyle rap.
The Timmy Foundation, an international non-profit organization that seeks to expand access to healthcare and educational opportunities for low-income communities around the world, will utilize all proceeds from the event to benefit its work to expand access to education in the Bodo River States of Nigeria.
In order to raise the finances necessary to construct the school, M-Eighty (otherwise known as Matthew Markoff), will attempt to break the world’s longest freestyle rap record as noted in the Guinness Book of World Records. Mr. Markoff will attempt to rap for over 10 hours in order to complete this awesome task. This record attempt (which was approved by the Guinness Book of World Records in September) will take place at IUPUI’s Student Center on Saturday December 19th and is free to the public.
Mr. Markoff, an IUPUI alumnus and graduate of the New College of California School of Law, has decided to name the Bebor secondary school in honor of the late Dr. Gary D. Tollefson, M.D. Dr. Tollefson, one of Matthew's most influential mentors, was the former President of Eli Lilly's Neuroscience Group where his leadership led to drugs that revolutionized the pharma field and became household names. He was also a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a recognized humanitarian.
The Guinness World Records Association insists that there must be a certain degree of media attention surrounding all accepted applications and events in order to be recognized by the GWRA, in the event that a new world record is set. IUPUI, the Timmy Foundation, and Mr. Markoff all hope that they can count on your support in bringing the compassion and strength of this event and its fundraising initiatives to the forefront.

Here’s a First: Man Arrested for Not Using Twitter

Justin Bieber
This just in from Media Memo and Peter Kafka
Terrifying? Inevitable? Harbinger? In any case, it’s a first: Police in Long Island, New York, have arrested a man for not using Twitter.
Someone named Justin Bieber, who apparently is a teenage singer, was supposed to appear at the Roosevelt Field mall on Friday, but stayed away because the crowd had become too unruly. Police asked a record label executive to help disperse the horde using the messaging service, and claim he didn’t cooperate. More from Newsday:
Police arrested a senior vice president from Bieber’s label, Island Def Jam Records, James A. Roppo, 44, of Hoboken, N.J., saying he hindered their crowd-control efforts by not cooperating.
He was in custody Friday night, pending charges that could include criminal nuisance, endangering the welfare of a minor and obstructing government administration, Smith said.
“We asked for his help in getting the crowd to go away by sending out a Twitter message,” Smith said. “By not cooperating with us we feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk.”
Slightly confusing, because Bieber’s Twitter account–presumably the one the cops wanted Roppo to use–does indeed show that he asked his fans to leave at 4:30 pm Eastern:
But apparently that was too late:
Check the Link for what a mall full of unruly Justin Bieber fans looks like, by the way. Not sure how helpful Twitter would have in the face of this:
